After MoMA I headed down to the meatpacking disctrict with Elaine to meet our friends Chris and John for dinner. John, Elaine and I were there early so we went to the soft opening of the High Line Park. The High Line was a freight line that was built on the west side of Manhattan to get the trains off the ground level. No trains have run on it for almost 30 years, so the city decided to turn it into a beautiful park that is about a mile and half long.
Afterward, we met Chris for dinner at the beautiful Vento and then headed to McSorley's for a night cap. McSorley's is the oldest pub in New York, opened in 1854. It still looks like this on the inside, minus the guys in fancy suits:
For some reason, you always get two mugs when you order. You choose light or dark- trust me, go for the dark!

What is in that mug to the left? It looks like a mug-full of mustard! With a chopstick? I'm perplexed.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely mustard. You can order things like a cheese plate that involves saltines, cheddar slices and a few onion slices. The mustard stays on the table with a weird wooden spoon in it!
ReplyDeletehmmm mcsorleys. and hmmm john and chris. and elaine. and meg. oh so jealous.
